Some common questions about the App are listed below with the most popular questions first.
If none of the questions cover the topic you need, be sure to try the Manual section of this website in case the information you need is already available. However, if you can't find the answer you're looking for here, send me your query and I will answer it personally. Please be patient waiting for a response, I am a one-person operation and I try to get back to users as soon as possible. But, sometimes it takes a while. Updated: June 3, 20120
Q: How do I manually refresh the quotes?
A: This feature is only operational when you have Auto-Fetch turned off. To refresh the quotes, simply tap on the title in the top blue navigation bar. (ie. WatchList, Portfolios, "My portfolio Name", etc.)
Q: Are different currencies supported?
A: This is something that we are working on bringing to a future version of the App. Please stay tuned.
Q: How do I record sales transactions?
The App does not have sales functions at this time.
Q: I am having trouble Exporting or Importing my data to the Sync Service
A: Please make sure you are running the latest version of the App. If you continue to have issues, contact me and include your Unique Identifier. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Q: I have been using StockWatch on my iPhone and just got an iPad. How do I sync my data between the iPad and my iPhone?
A: Decide which device has the best data on it. Lets say, for example, your iPad has the data on it. Export the data to the Sync Service. Then remove the App from your iPhone and re-install the App so it is a fresh install with no data. Then go in and Setup PIN, but an existing PIN choice. Use the PIN and Unique Identifier that is on your iPad StockWatch version. Once you have synced the iPhone to that Unique ID you can then Import the Sync Service data onto that.
Q: Options quotes are no longer working.
A: Options are not supported in any StockWatch App.
Q: I searched for a symbol, but it says 'No Results Found":
A: The app has an internal database of symbols and sometimes it does not get updated with new symbols right away, or sometimes we miss some when we update it. But, you can always watch any stock, regardless of the internal database, if the symbol can be found on Yahoo Finance. Go to: http://finance.yahoo.com/lookup and search for the symbol or name. If Yahoo has data for it, it can be tracked in the App. If you know the Yahoo formatted symbol: Search in the App for the symbol. If your symbol search did not return any matches, but you know that the symbol is formatted to Yahoo! Finance: Just tap the row that says 'Add Anyway?' and the symbol will be added to your list and the most recent quote will be retrieved.
Q: I forgot my StockWatch Sync Services PIN
A: Please contact me for the instructions for resetting your PIN.
Q: I forgot my Unique Identifier
A: Please contact me for the instructions for resetting your Unique Identifier.
Q: How do I track Commodities?
A: You just need to know the Yahoo formatted symbol. Example: Symbol on Yahoo Finance for Soybeans January 2010 Contract is SF10.CBT The symbol search might not return any matches for futures symbols. If that happens you can manually add the symbol by tapping the row that says 'Add Anyway?' and the symbol will be added to your WatchList/Portfolio and the most recent quote will be retrieved.
Q: How do I sort the rows in my Watchlist/Portfolio alphabetically ?
A: You can edit the list and re-arrange them by tapping the 'edit' button. To re-arrange: tap, hold, and move the "three grey lines" icon. When you are done, just tap "done".
Q: How do I add purchase price and number of shares to my portfolio?
A: If you tap on the row (stock symbol in Portfolios) you would like to add 'Lots' to, it will enable a button in the bottom toolbar (x Lots). Tap this button to bring up the Lots entry screen. |
